Every year companies, government agencies and organizations send thousands of tons of office furniture to our landfills. What's wrong with that?
The chemicals used in the manufacturing of office products pose no hazard while in use, but those same chemicals can eventually leak out of products that are dumped in our landfills. Despite precautions, we cannot prevent the release of fiberglass particles as well as waterproofing chemicals, flame-retardants and other pollutants. Unfortunately, these chemicals eventually make their way to our groundwater.
So how can The Warehouse make a difference? First, by giving used office furniture and equipment a second life. In many cases we can remarket used items with little or no modification. In other cases, we can refurbish worn, damaged or outdated items to enhance their marketability. And when items truly reach the end of their useful life we dismantle and salvage materials in an environmentally responsible way.
